Hear a testimony from Joel Diaz, a youth pastor who brought a group of his students to Jamaica in April 2012 to partner with a local church for a short term mission trip.
Those who follow world news likely know the recent news about there being large deposits of Gold in Haiti... "Its capital is blighted with earthquake rubble. Its countryside is shorn of trees, chopped down for fuel. This is very exciting news, especially for individuals and organizations who are investing in relief work and ministry in Haiti. Of course, the country of Haiti must also be ecstatic about this discovery and the actions being taken by mining companies to begin extracting these gold reserves, which will provide jobs and income for thousands of Haitians. Our team that worked on the Galloway home in early June from 1st Presbyterian Church in Marietta, GA poses for a picture as they finish their week of work and ministry. They got a ton accomplished and the home is near completion in August of 2011! The Galloway's will have a new safe, dry, and comfortable place to live very soon!
My past twenty four hours started fairly regularly. After work on Thursday I stopped home and met up with Em as she was getting home from work around the same time. We grabbed Chiquita and some food and headed to our friend's home- the Blossers. We enjoyed some quality time with them and grilled some brats while watching the Green Bay Packer's first preseason game. All is good. Until about 10pm. That's when Emily's mom called and said she received a notification that Susan, my sister-in-law, was able to check in for her flight to Jamaica. Susan is a part of the Edinbrook team coming down to Jamaica tomorrow (August 11th). She joined the team late and I helped get things arranged by finding and booking her flight so she could join the team and travel with the rest of them on Saturday. What I didn't realize (at least until Bonnie called me at 10pm Thursday) was that I accidentally booked Susan's flight for FRIDAY instead of Saturday! Well, Susan can't travel...
