Hear a testimony from Joel Diaz, a youth pastor who brought a group of his students to Jamaica in April 2012 to partner with a local church for a short term mission trip.
Jamaican Highlights As you likely know, i've spent a good amount of time over the past 8 years serving in Jamaica. I typically spend a few months of the year on the island helping guide our ministry and leading short term mission teams. Jamaica is such a small country but is literally packed full of awesomeness. I am beginning a series of blog posts that will highlight some of my favorites of Jamaica. These will be communities, restaurants, beaches, churches, etc. I hope this gives you a further look into my heart for Jamaica and the uniqueness of the island. Boston Bay Jerk! Boston Bay is on the far northeastern coast of Jamaica. For those who know Jamaica well, it's past Port Antonio. This is over a four hour drive from MoBay and a few hours from Kingston as well. This part of the island is known for a few things... rain, natural beauty, the only surfing spot in Jamaica, and the island's BEST jerk. That's right! Something else I noticed was the overall stability of the people and environment. Kingston is a big city- like almost 2 million people. There were a few 'block parties' here or there in the days following the election, and many people wore...
Welcome to my blog. I don't post / update this nearly as much as I should, but it's worth it to try to keep many years of memories in one spot, and I occasionally enjoy a good writing session! Many of the posts you'll see in this blog dating back to 2007 relate to my experiences with Praying Pelican Missions- who I served full time in ministry with until 2016. My Facebook page is a great source of information on life for our family as well, as I definitely keep that updated more often! https://www.facebook.com/jon.nelson86 .
