Summer plans for ministry

Below is a picture of the Deeside Basic School. When we began in March the facility consisted of the green building. Our mission teams this summer will continue construction on the school. The school has over 25 children and is affiliated with the Hastings Baptist Church (in the background). You can start to see two windows forming around the cinder blocks. On the far right there will be a bathroom. This project will double the size of this school, allowing much needed room for the students and teachers, and eventually will provide more income for the church through the basic school.

Below is a picture of Merrick Williams (left) and Mr. Galloway (right). Mr. Galloway is an elderly man from the Hastings Baptist Church who lives with his wife in a pretty rough home. We originally talked about fixing up the place where they're living, then we realized their home was beyond disrepair. Therefore in March of 2011, we began constructing a new home for the Galloway's by initially laying the foundation. We're looking forward to blessing the Galloway's by continuing the work on their home this summer!

Our other projects this summer include the continued construction on the Hastings Primary School, helping give the Hastings Baptist Church a renovation, and other various projects in the parish of Trelawny. In the Unity Baptist church Circuit (of which Hastings Baptist is one of the churches in the circuit), our teams will lead sports camps, partner with local school, lead VBS, and lead evangelistic church services. Praying Pelican Missions will be partnering with over fifteen other churches throughout the island of Jamaica this summer as well, undertaking similar projects and coming alongside local leaders and pastors in Jamaica.
