Pigsty!
One of the projects some of our summer teams will likely be involved in here in Jamaica is the construction of a pigsty at the Nutshell Conference Center. "Nutshell" is a good size conference center in Trelawny, Jamaica. The facility is east of Montego Bay about an hour. It's owned by the Jamaica Baptist Union and is run by the director, Leslie Blake, who is also an assistant pastor at the William Knibb Baptist Church in Falmouth, Jamaica. The future pigsty will allow Nutshell to raise pigs and save money by providing their own pork and bacon. They will also be able to raise pigs and sell them for profit, this will provide jobs for people from the nearby towns of Spice Hill and Duncans. Nutshell already has a large chicken coop and is working on acquiring some chicks to begin raising them, which will also provide work and income for individuals and Nutshell as a whole.
Leslie can be seen in the picture above standing in his own personal pigsty which is located on the grounds at Nutshell. His pigsty needs a little work to be completed, needs a few more rows of block and a roof. Currently Leslie has one pig that is pregnant.
